Christine Straehle

Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa (Kanada)

Resident at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften:
January‒March 2012

Research topic at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften:
»Vulnerability and Global Justice«

Project outline:
Moral philosophers accept that we have an obligation to protect the vulnerable; however, what precisely vulnerability is is often not spelled out. This project aims to examine the concept of vulnerability, what it is and why it is morally problematic. In a second step, this concept of vulnerability will be applied to questions of global justice. What can we learn from vulnerability when thinking about global justice? (Christine Straehle)

Funding of the stay:
»Justitia Amplificata. Rethinking Justice − Applied and Global«
