The Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: Events

Wednesday, 04 July 2018, 19:00
Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften, lecture room

Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften und Deutsch-Französisches Institut für Geschichts- und Sozialwissenschaften, Frankfurt/Main
Lecture series »EuropaDialoge/Dialogues d'Europe«

»The Role of Public Intellectuals in Europe: Past and Present«

About the lecture
Attempts to create a European identity have had a limited impact. It is all the more paradoxical considering that an intellectual tradition in Europe existed long before the emergence of national identities. The lecture will propose a historical perspective on the European intellectual space, and ask, in light of this past, what the role of intellectuals in Europe could be today.

About the speaker
Ecrivain, CNRS Editions 2017.
