Continuation of the lecture series
Sinophone Classicism. Chinese Cultural Memories in a Global Space

The lecture series »Sinophone Classicism« continues in spring 2022. In four lectures from April to July 2022, guest speakers from the USA, Taiwan and Austria will investigate contemporary sinophone art forms that creatively refer to classical Chinese traditions. The focus is on the use of digital media: classical motifs are often integrated in video games, television dramas or dance and theater performances in a distorted manner. The lectures seek answers to the question of the meaning of Chinese traditions for contemporary China, Chinese-speaking communities around the world, and global cultural production. The series is organized by our Goethe Fellow, Frankfurt Sinology Professor Zhiyi Yang.
