»Sickness, Hope, and Acceptance« About the lecture
The talk is based on journals that he kept during his two experiences of blood cancer. His book The Examined Illness: A Philosopher Confronts Deadly Disease will be published in summer 2026. It will be followed by a get-together with finger food and drinks.
About the speaker
Darrel Moellendorf Darrel Moellendorf is Professor of International Political Theory and Philosophy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. He is a political theorist and philosopher with a focus on political, environmental and moral philosophy. His most recent and widely noticed book on this subject is Mobilizing Hope: Climate Change and Global Poverty (Oxford University Press 2022). – He has been associated with the Forschungskolleg for many years, most recently as a Goethe Fellow with the project »Hope for Human Prospects in The Anthropocene Era«.
