Michael Kimmage (The Catholic University of America; Center for Strategic and International Studies)
»It Was the Best of Times: The Bright Future of the Transatlantic Alliance«The lecture
In this talk, Michael Kimmage will explore the remarkable precedent of transatlantic cooperation since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The consequences of this invasion demonstrate the many strengths of the NATO alliance, and they demonstrate the solidity of Ukraine's European path. Professor Kimmage will analyze the 2024 election as a healthy referendum on key priorities in U.S. foreign-policy, looking at the opportunities for further transatlantic cooperation should either a Republican or a Democrat win the November presidential election. Optimism may not be in fashion at the moment, among those pondering the transatlantic relationship, but a case can be made for it. Professor Kimmage will make this case.
