Der Historiker Norbert Frei über seine Position gegen einen neu erstarkten Nationalismus
Verschiedene Historiker, darunter auch Norbert Frei, beziehen Position gegen einen neu erstarkten Nationalismus. In ihrem Buch »Zur rechten Zeit - Wider die Rückkehr des Nationalismus« beschreiben sie, was das für unsere Demokratie bedeutet. Sie wenden sich gegen das Ziel der Rechten, sich der Geschichte der deutschen Freiheitsbewegung zu bemächtigen und sie ins Völkisch-Nationalistische zu verkürzen. Norbert Frei, der das Jena-Center Geschichte des 20. Jahrhundert leitet, stellt mit seinen Kollegen das Buch in Frankfurt und Bad Homburg vor. Welche Gefahren mit dem Nationalismus einhergehen, erläutert er in hr2-kultur.

Im Wintersemester 2018/19 ist Norbert Frei auf Einladung von Sybille Steinbacher (Professorin für die Ge-schichte und Wirkung des Holocaust am Historischen Seminar an der Goethe-Universität sowie Direktorin des Fritz Bauer Institutes in Frankfurt am Main) und dem an der Universität angesiedel-ten Exzellenzcluster »Die Herausbildung normativer Ordnungen« Fellow am Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften.
