Hessian Cultural Prize 2017 (Hessischer Kulturpreis 2017) awarded to Matthias Lutz-Bachmann and Volker Mosbrugger
The Hessian Cultural Prize (Hessischer Kulturpreis) for 2017 was awarded jointly to Matthias Lutz-Bachmann, director of the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften, and Volker Mosbrugger, director general of the Senckenberg Gesellschaft. The award ceremony took place on October 27, 2017 at the Goethe University Frankfurt.

Professor Dr. Dr. Matthias Lutz-Bachmann teaches at the Institute of Philosophy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. The former vice president of the university has been director of the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften since 2012. Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Volker Mosbrugger is director general of the Senkenberg Gesellschaft für Naturforschung in Frankfurt am Main and teaches in the Department of Geosciences at the university.
The Hessian Cultural Prize was established in 1982 to recognize outstanding achievements in the arts, sciences and cultural education. The prize is endowed with 45,000 euros, making it the most highly endowed cultural prize in Germany.
